New World Rangiora

MHL are proud to have been involved in the design and implementation of an LED lighting upgrade for the New World Supermarket in Rangiora. MHL worked closely with Pedersen Read Christchurch who developed a lighting solution that replaced an existing dated fluorescent installation to increase both horizontal and vertical light levels which created a bright fresh environment for New World’s customers.

The Trilux E-Line continuous system, with a mixture of wide and double asymmetric optics, was the product of choice for this project. The double asymmetric optics proved particularly useful for the vertical light on to the aisle shelving, lighting the product with excellent accuracy and colour rendition which improves the customer experience and better reflects the colour fidelity of the individual produce/goods.

APPROACH

The project was not without its challenges. The apex ceiling shape was hard to work with at times and due to store operating hours, all work on site was done after hours by Melray Electric. The dark flooring in parts of the store also reduces the reflectance of light. The upgrade has further enhanced the overall look of the store and also resulted in a 50% reduction in power consumption for lighting.

RESULT

Everyone involved is extremely happy with the outcome, especially the client who is particularly impressed with the way the lighting really improves how the product is displayed, the overall improved visual comfort of the store plus an almost 50% reduction in energy consumption.

Credit also goes to Melray Electric, for doing a great job with the installation.
